| 3960. Logistics and Supply Chain Management. 3 hours. Analysis and design of logistics and supply chain systems. Topics include transporation, warehousing, inventory control, materials handling and packaging, and plant and warehouse locations within and between firms. Emphasis on concepts and practices that provide firms with a competitive advantage. Prerequisite(s): Junior standing. |

| Course Objectives |
COURSE DESCRIPTION:
Analysis and design of domestic and international logistics systems. Topics include transportation, warehousing, inventory control, materials handling and packaging, and plant and warehouse locations. Emphasis on concepts and practices that provide firms with global competitive advantage.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES:
Explore the role of logistics and supply chain management as it relates to the goals of the organization and interacts within the supply chain.
Gain an understanding of how each component operates and fits into the overall scheme of the field.
Enable strategic understanding of key principles which must be considered when managing the process.
Encourage class interaction to gain student insights from a variety of industries and career related positions.
Explore and gain insight to current developments in the field.

| Course Expectations |
| Self paced course. Student must make minimal scheduled progress but may go through the course as fast as they wish. All content is available on the first day of the course. Content includes streaming audio lectures in a powerpoint-like format, on-line study questions, threaded forums, and on-line quizzing. Starting the 3rd week of the term access to the first quiz is removed, 4th week access to the 2nd quiz is removed, etc.
50% of grade is based on quizzes and 50% on cumulative final examination. |
